Described as ‘absolute bliss’ and ‘wonderfully peaceful’ by previous guests, our Character Farm Cottages offer true tranquillity near the village of Abbotsbury, a short drive from the seaside town of Weymouth and within walking distance of the stunning Jurassic Coast. We have seven self-catering cottages in total situated on our beautiful and extensive working dairy farm where we provide a wholesome family holiday experience rare in modern times. Our cottages are affordable but well-maintained and our service and hospitality are exceptional, described as ‘friendly and helpful’ with a ‘warm welcome’. Our English country cottages are available for weekly holidays all year and for off-season short breaks. The properties are near some of Dorset’s most spectacular attractions and only a mile from Chesil Beach which can be seen from most of the farm.
You’re welcome to spend your entire stay here on site, enjoying the fresh air and the calming environment only a true English farm holiday can provide, though many of our guests spend their days exploring the local area. The Abbotsbury Swannery is an impressive attraction not to be missed and the subtropical gardens are guaranteed to be a hit with Grandma. Your children and dogs can enjoy days on the safe, clean sandy beaches of Weymouth and the whole family can bond over a slow stroll along a coastal footpath, cameras in hand.
Our cottages accommodate between two and nine people making them suitable for a group get-together or a secluded romantic break. Whilst only 5 miles to the west of Weymouth we are nicely secluded on the coast far enough away not to be disturbed by the hustle and bustle of the sailing Olympics. On site we also offer a communal Old Stable complete with table tennis, table football, shared laundry and wireless internet facilities and with books and games for a quiet day on the farm.
I cannot fault these beautiful cottages. Their location is awesome, bang on the edge of a geological wonder! The two cottages we have stayed in have been character-full yet comfortable and well-appointed. We are not the easiest visitors to accommodate often booking late, arriving late at night, asking for all sorts of baby-equipment. But our expectations have always been surpassed by the relaxed and friendly family owners. And all this comes at a price that compares very well indeed with the competition. I wish I could keep these wonderful holiday cottages a secret so that I could be sure to always get that late vacancy, but I feel obliged to reveal how wonderful they are and to recommend them wholeheartedly. I can't wait to be back for a visit soon. Jane Williams.
